I can't wait for Atlanta PHP to finally get off the ground, I've been waiting since Ben Ramsey made the announcement on his blog. I'm a 17-year-old Junior in my local High School. I play on the marching band, drumlime specifcally, and do PHP stuffs in my free time. I'm looking to major in music of some sort, probably percussion related, and maybe do something with my knowledge in PHP in my spare time, if not full time. I've been working with PHP for close to my fourth year now. I just recently started getting into it full-force and learning how PHP5's OOP works. I've done a few projects around the web, but nothing major. I'm working on a PHP5 Blog called Novus in my spare time. I just checked, and I see that you're also subscribed to the org@ list, which is where I suspect most of our initial conversations will take place, and, in fact, there has already been some discussion there. Hopefully, we can get the list archives up soon so that others can see what we've already talked about. In short, the talk@ list will function like a php-general@ list for Atlanta PHP. Discussions here won't necessarily be focused on the group or the formation of the group. Those conversations are best held on the org@ address. I think we're also waiting for several days to see how many people sign up for the lists. So far, we have 10 people signed up on announce@, which is the list we're using as an indicator of our membership size. I know that, in the past, many more than just 10 have voiced interest in this group to me, so I hope to see at least 25-30 names on that list. Twenty people alone have signed up for our group on Orkut, and I have sent a message to all of them and posted to the group forum there notifying about the mailing lists. -- Ben Ramsey Atlanta PHP http://atlphp.org http://benramsey.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- Atlanta PHP Talk http://www.atlphp.org/archives/talk http://www.atlphp.org --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: talk-unsubscribe at lists.atlphp.org For additional commands, e-mail: talk-help at lists.atlphp.org From necrotic at gmail.com Mon Oct 11 16:35:53 2004 From: necrotic at gmail.com (James Logsdon) Date: Mon, 11 Oct 2004 16:35:53 -0400 Subject: [atlphp-talk] Silence In-Reply-To: <416ADC24.5080500@atlphp.org> References: <416ADC24.5080500@atlphp.org> Message-ID: Hey Ben, Yeah, I knew that Org@ would be used for main discussion. Attendance to the vendor exhibition is free . Maybe we should plan for our first meeting in December and our "site launch" in early-to-mid November. Then, we could get some kind of info cards (4x6 postcard size?) printed up with our "About Us" verbage, purpose statement, Web address, and space to fill in meeting details (so we can reuse these cards in the future). We could schedule a time to meet up and attend the vendor exhibition and hand out these cards. What do you think? I'm currently working on the "About Us" verbage to use in publicity materials, so I should have something to post here by this weekend for review. By the way, there are a total of 22 e-mail addresses subscribed to our lists. Some of these people I know are not in Atlanta, so I don't really count on them to be active members.
